Economic Benefits
Martin Marietta’s investment in Medina County will result in significant economic benefits.  We estimate that the $50 million to $75 million project will become one of the largest taxpayers in the county, with combined property taxes estimated at more than one million per year.

The project will employ more than 50 people with average salaries of $40,000 per year plus benefits.  The quarry will be a source of jobs for years to come, which will benefit existing local businesses and create a catalyst for economic development.  In San Antonio, the San Antonio Zoo, Sunken Garden Theatre, Trinity University, Quarry Golf Club, Six Flags Fiesta Texas and The Rim all are located in former quarries.

Local quarries reduce construction costs.  Crushed rock is expensive to transport, which is why most counties in the United States are home to at least one aggregate operation.  As Medina County continues to grow, access to local materials will result in cost savings to taxpayers, homeowners and businesses.

Martin Marietta employees live and work in rural counties all across the United States.  Our company is committed to being a great neighbor and corporate partner and having a positive impact in Medina County.
